New character idea

So,  I had this idea for a character. I don’t know what the back story is going to be for the character yet or what the plot is going to be but I want to make the character kind of a bad ass anti-hero.

What do you guys think about anti-heros?  Good idea or bad idea?  Would love to get feedback.  Think it would be a fun character to write and the story I would eventually come up with could be fun to write as well.

Been neglecting this blog. Sorry.

Okay so, things have been a little hectic in my life recently.  Where things were slow a month ago at my work, things have picked up quite a bit.  So I have been working anywhere from 40 to 48 hours a week so writing has been a little bit slow going.  I am still writing though.

I have a few different stories in the works.  Mostly because I haven’t been able to make up my mind which one I want to invest more time in.

Right now I’ve been working on a story that I started a while ago.  It wasn’t something that I thought I’d go any further with but after getting some feedback from a writer friend of mine, I decided to continue working on it.

Til next time…have a good one.

New Angle

So, when I first started this author blog, I wanted to make it all professional looking and all that. But to be honest, I am not a professional. Either in writing or anything else. And I also have a full time job that takes up a lot of my time. As much as I want to be a professional writer, I’m not… Yet. But I will be someday and when I am, my blog will take on a more professional appearance. Until then, I will try to update this when I have something to update it with.

Would like opinions.

So, I need a little feedback about something. Do people actually like reading YA books where the two main protagonists are soul mates?

And how do you think is the best way to avoid insta-romances without stretching things out for 4 or 5 books before the characters even admit they have feelings for one another?

Opinions are very much appreciated because I would hate to have the story I’m working on now to fall into the “insta-romance” rut.

Thanks everyone.

It is the first in a series of short stories. I originally started them as kind of a serial but unfortunately, things in my life prevented me from writing stories in the series on a regular basis. But, like everything I write, i will get back to it eventually.

Story Progress

So,  a while back,  I had this great idea for a book. And, having read many books in first person POV, I decided to start writing in first person POV.  Over the past year or so, the story has grown to well over 100 pages.   So far,  I have really liked how the story has gone.  I love the characters that I’ve created. But there has been one problem.  There hasn’t been enough conflict.

I have read a bunch of tips online and on pinterest and in writing groups on Facebook that say that conflict is the most important thing in a novel.   It drives the story forward.   Well,  so far, the plot in my story has been mostly the character’s personal conflict. As a result,  my story has come to a bit of a stand still.

I have recently come up with some ideas that will help add more conflict without ruining what I have written so far.

Hoping to self publish this story sometime this year.

Thanks for reading and following. Feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Hello.   My name is Crystal Hayden. I am an indie ebook author from a small town in Maine.   I have been writing most of my life and will continue to write for the rest of my life.   I started out writing poetry when I was in grade school and eventually moved on to writing stories.

Having a full time job makes it hard to get the amount of writing done that I would like to.  But I make time as often as I can.   Sometimes using my break times as writing.

This is my second attempt at an author blog and I’m determined to keep it going.   On here,  I will post info on books and short stories that I plan to publish, links to books and stories that I have published, and general writing related topics.
